Robinson Helicopters are special in the helicopter industry and require special endorsements in-order to act as Pilot in Command. Below is a list of requirements you must have prior to operating a R22 or R44 as Pilot in Command.
Robinson R22___SFAR 73
- Certificated helicopter pilots with less than 200 hours of helicopter flight time.
- Awareness Training is required prior to manipulating controls of an R22 unless you have had at least 10 hours of dual instruction covering the flight training as outlined by SFAR 73 in the R22 prior to April 26th 1995 and received a log-book endorsement to act as PIC in the R22.
- A flight review in the R22 must have been completed within the preceding 12 calendar months to operate as PIC of an R22.
- No flight review completed to satisfy 61.56 shall be valid to operate an R22 unless the flight review was taken in an R22.
- Flight reviews are to include awareness training subject areas and flight training subject areas as outlined in SFAR 73.
- Each endorsement must be given by a CFI authorized to give instruction in an R22.
- Certificated helicopter pilots with more than 200 hours of helicopter flight time.
- Awareness Training is required prior to manipulating controls of an R22 unless you have had at least 50 hours of flight time in an R22 prior to April 26th 1995, or 10 hours of Dual instruction in an R22 to include the flight training as specified in SFAR 73.
- No flight review completed to satisfy 61.56 shall be valid to operate an R22 unless the flight review was taken in an R22.
- Flight reviews are to include awareness training subject areas and flight training subject areas as outlined in SFAR 73.
- A flight review endorsement must be given by a CFI authorized to give instruction in an R22.
- No person may act as PIC in a R22 carrying passengers unless the PIC has met the currency requirements of 61.57 in an R22.
- Non-certificated helicopter pilots.
- Awareness Training is required prior to manipulating controls of an R22.
- Prior to acting as PIC you must have 20 hours of Dual instruction covering the subject areas outlined in SFAR 73.
- An endorsement must be given by an instructor authorized to give instruction in an R22 stating you are capable of acting as PIC in an R22.
- The endorsement given is valid for only 90 days.
- Certified Flight Instructors with Helicopter class rating.
- Awareness Training is required prior to giving instruction in an R22.
- Has obtained at least 200 helicopter flight hours.
- 50 of which must be in the R22.
- Has completed flight training as outlined in SFAR 73 in an R22.
- Has been endorsed by an FAA aviation safety inspector or authorized DPE stating you can give instruction in the R22.
Robinson R44___SFAR 73
- Certificated helicopter pilots with less than 200 hours of helicopter flight time.
- Awareness Training is required prior to manipulating controls of an R44 unless you have had at least 10 hours of dual instruction covering the flight training as outlined by SFAR 73 in the R44 prior to April 26th 1995 and received a log-book endorsement to act as PIC in the R44.
- A flight review in the R44 must have been completed within the preceding 12 calendar months to operate as PIC of an R44.

- Awareness Training is required prior to manipulating controls of an R44 unless you have had at least 50 hours of flight time in Robinson Helicopters 25 of which must be in an R44 prior to April 26th 1995, or 10 hours of Dual instruction in an R44 to include the flight training as specified in SFAR 73.
- No flight review completed to satisfy 61.56 shall be valid to operate an R44 unless the flight review was taken in an R44.
- Flight reviews are to include awareness training subject areas and flight training subject areas as outlined in SFAR 73.

- 50 of which must be in the Robinson helicopters.
- 25 of which must be in the R44.
- Has completed flight training as outlined in SFAR 73 in an R44.
- Has been endorsed by an FAA aviation safety inspector or authorized DPE stating you can give instruction in the R44.
All of our pilots are authorized to give instruction in the Robinson R22 and Robinson R44 helicopters. If you need an endorsement then we will assess whether you are eligible and then take the appropriate steps in getting you signed off.
- Dual Flight Instruction: $280.00 / hour
- Solo Flight Rental: ____$240.00 / hour
- Ground Instruction:____$40.00 / hour
Note: To rent the aircraft solo you must first receive a flight check from one of our certified flight instructors and meet all the solo requirements of FAR part 61 and SFAR 73 to Part 61.
