WE DO NOT CURRENTLY SUPPORT AN INSTRUMENT PROGRAM THIS IS FOR FUTURE PLANNING ONLY

The instrument course is designed to train pilots to fly through clouds and at other times of reduced visibility by reference to special cockpit instruments. This course will also take you through the complicated communication process with ATC (air traffic control) and simplify the IFR environment to a manageable situation. Outside of this many helicopter companies now require their pilots to hold instrument ratings to lower insurance costs, increase pilot awareness, and to have pilots that are inherently safer and smoother behind the flight controls.

There are two different avenues that you can choose from with your instrument rating.

  1. All instrument time in a helicopter
    • Adds increased aircraft controllability
    • All flight time is applied towards the required 200 hours to instruct in Robinson helicopters.
  2. 2/3 rd's training in fixed-wing with 1/3 in Helicopter
    • Reduced cost from the helicopter version
    • If looking to instruct in Robinson Helicopters you will need to fly an additional amount of R22 time at a later date.
