So you think you have what it takes to be a vertical-reference pilot? Prepare yourself now for one of the most challenging yet rewarding accomplishments in all of you aviation training! This will take you right back to the feelings you had when you first started hovering and nothing in the world seemed to make any sense.
Upon completion:
- You will have a basic understanding of the pendular action involved with sling loads.
- You will know how to secure numerous different types of loads below the helicopter.
- You will learn how to make your sling loads aerodynamic to prevent load-spinning, or load-flying
- You will be able to stop a load that is getting out of control
During your emergency training you will receive:
- 3 hours Ground instruction covering; basic principles of sling loads, securing loads to a long line, basic hand signals for ground personnel, and load aerodynamics.
- 2 hours dual flight instruction covering; basic principles of sling loads, load control.
- 3 hours solo training covering; basic principles of sling loads, load control.
